‘Aston Villa and Tottenham to fight for Igor Thiago signing in January as price tag set’ – Exclusive
Aston Villa could face competition in their efforts to sign Igor Thiago from Brentford in January.
Thiago has emerged as a target for Villa already this season as their striker woes continue at Villa Park.
Ollie Watkins has struggled this season for Villa, and Donyell Malen has often been an inconsistent replacement for him in the Premier League.
Malen did score a brace against Young Boys, but was generally quiet throughout the afternoon against Wolves last time around in B6.
Thiago could prove to be the man to take Unai Emery’s side to the next level, but it seems that Tottenham have similar thoughts to the Villans over the free-scoring Brazilian.

Tottenham could battle with Aston Villa for Igor Thiago
Thiago was stunning for Brentford against Burnley in his last outing, taking his goal tally up to 12 for the campaign in just 14 games.
The Brazilian featured only eight times last season through injury, but has certainly left those woes behind him at the Gtech Community Stadium.
Keith Andrews has continued to get the best out of the 24-year-old, who has taken to life in the Premier League with aplomb after his switch from Club Brugge.
Villa are in desperate need of a striker, and Thiago could prove to be the perfect man in January, with former scout Bryan King suggesting that Tottenham will also be interested.
Speaking exclusively to Villa News, King said: “If Brentford let him go, that’ll be the third centre-forward they’ve lost in the space of three years.
“Toney went, Mbeumo left, and now they’re talking about Thiago leaving. He won’t leave that football club unless a massive offer comes in.
“I would imagine that Villa will be in a position where they will be fighting Tottenham to sign him.

“Frank knows him, and Tottenham need a centre-forward. I would think Villa and Tottenham would be rivals if Brentford decide to let him go.
“If Mbeumo went for around £60m, Thiago has scored 12 goals, so they’ll be wanting a similar sort of figure.“
Thiago could transform Aston Villa in January
Villa are certainly in need of a number nine who can find the net every week, and £60m could be worth every penny.
Emery is relying on moments of magic from outside the area for goals right now, with everyone from Matty Cash and Boubacar Kamara to Morgan Rogers and Emi Buendia taking aim from range.
That is highly likely to be unsustainable, with Thiago potentially the perfect man to change that trend with his flashback approach.
The Brazilian is six foot two and is famed for his ability to hold up the ball, his strength in the air, and his clear eye for goal.
Villa currently look to be a much more attractive prospect than Spurs, especially given the knowledge that he could make a massive splash at Villa Park this winter and beyond.
