Aston Villa player ratings vs Wolves: Emi Martinez puts on a show, 3/10 abysmal
Aston Villa picked up a derby victory over Wolves on Sunday in a 1-0 win at Villa Park.
The hosts had an early scare in the first half when Wolves found the net before it was disallowed.
Emi Martinez was also forced to make numerous top saves to keep the visitors from scoring in what was a disappointing first-half.
However, Villa came out in the second period fighting, and a wonder goal from Boubacar Kamara gave the hosts the lead.
From here, Unai Emery’s side managed to see out the remaining minutes to secure a derby victory over Wolves.

Emi Martinez Aston Villa’s hero
Martinez had been poor in Aston Villa’s win over Leeds United last week, but more than made up for his mistake against Wolves.
In the first half, Aston Villa were dreadful, and Wolves could have taken the lead multiple times.
After Jorgen Strand Larsen’s disallowed goal, the visitors came close to netting again just before half-time as Yerson Mosquera saw a powerful header tipped onto the bar by Martinez, who remained on form to keep the visitors at bay.
The goalkeeper continued this form in the second half, producing another wonderful save early on.

In the end, this proved to be the difference, with the goalkeeper keeping the hosts in the game, which allowed Kamara to eventually score the winner.
Emi Buendia offered nothing vs Wolves
Going into the Aston Villa match, Emi Buendia had been hailed for his outstanding form.
The winger was consistently picking up goal contributions. However, he offered nothing against Wolves.
Throughout the match, Buendia did little, with Fotmob on 30 November confirming that he failed to complete a single dribble, made just one chance and won just 25 per cent of his ground duels.

| Minutes | 54 |
| Shots | 0 |
| Passing accuracy | 72% |

| Chances created | 1 |
| Ground duels won | 25% |
As a result, Emery quickly pulled the winger off in the second half for Ollie Watkins, in what was a dreadful display.
Going forward, Buendia simply has to do more, or he will once again find himself stuck on the bench.
