Morgan Rogers eyes unique Aston Villa record currently held by Stiliyan Petrov, he’ll surely do it

Morgan Rogers is closer to etching himself into Aston Villa’s history thanks to his performance against Leeds United last Sunday.

Rogers has been sensational for Villa of late.

While he did endure a slow start to the season, Villa’s goalless draw to Everton kick-started a series of impressive Premier League matches.

As one of Unai Emery’s most important players, Rogers has the chance to carve himself deeper into fans’ hearts before the season ends.

Morgan Rogers can achieve special scoring feat

Rogers stole headlines after he netted a brace in Villa’s 2-1 win over Leeds United at Elland Road last Sunday.

He has now scored two goals from outside the box in away Premier League fixtures in 2025-2026, according to Aston Villa Statto via X on 25 November.

Only Stiliyan Petrov (three in 2011/2012) has scored more in a single Premier League season for Villa in the history of the competition.

The midfielder has from now until the end of the season to equal or even surpass Petrov’s record.

Indeed, the earliest he can equalise it is when the Villans face Brighton on 3 December.

Morgan Rogers’ scoring form has been elite

Rogers has been immense in the Premier League for the Villans this season.

However, his scoring form has been particularly impressive:

Furthermore, he has also recorded a scoring frequency of 356 minutes, according to Sofascore. This is an admirable stat for a midfielder.

If he continues or even improves this scoring rate, Rogers could be looking at a spot in the Premier League Team of the Season.
