Aston Villa player ratings vs Young Boys: Donyell Malen stuns, 3/10 horrific once again
Aston Villa secured a 2-1 win over Young Boys on Thursday.
The Villans have made it two wins from two in the Europa League after Villa beat Maccabi Tel Aviv 2-0 in their last continental clash at Villa Park.
The clash with the Swiss outfit followed a similar path, with Morgan Rogers showing his class against Young Boys throughout his 60-minute showing.
Unai Emery will be pleased with what he saw from his side as Donyell Malen continued after the Leeds win with a superb brace in B6.
Malen was excellent in claret and blue, as were the majority of his teammates, and now Villa News rates each player’s performance out of 10.

Donyell Malen superb vs Young Boys
Ollie Watkins has been poor for Villa this season, and the Europa League has provided the Dutchman with a platform to prove his qualities.
The forward did exactly that against Young Boys and proved why so many supporters want to see him start every week in the Premier League.
The 26-year-old netted two from his three shots at Villa Park and will have been disappointed to come off with half an hour remaining.
Malen’s strikes were on target 100 per cent of the time, while he also completed his only attempted dribble of the evening.
There was so much to appreciate about his game, something that was only helped by a poor substitute appearance from Watkins.
Evann Guessand shocking again for Aston Villa
Evann Guessand was the only real big-money signing for Villa over the summer, but it looks as if those funds could have been spent better elsewhere.
The 24-year-old has been shocking all season and that form didn’t change or even look like changing against the Swiss outfit.
The right-sided forward took just one shot on the night, completed zero per cent of his attempted dribbles and racked up an expected goal tally of just 0.07, which is far from good enough.

His usual defensive work rate wasn’t even on show in the Midlands this time around after contributing to just one tackle on the night.
There is so much frustration surrounding Guessand right now and a match up against Young Boys should of been his chance to show his best form.
