Boubacar Kamara continues personal Aston Villa record as sensational stat emerges
Boubacar Kamara showed once again why he’s one of Aston Villa’s most important players against Leeds United on Sunday.
Villa triumphed in a 2-1 victory over Leeds at Elland Road in the Premier League on 23 November.
The win made it three consecutive victories for Unai Emery in all competitions following Villa’s previous shock 4-0 victory over Bournemouth.
While Morgan Rogers was Villa’s man of the hour with two goals, Kamara put in a shift that has subsequently gone under the radar.
Boubacar Kamara shines in key defensive metric
While Kamara has frequently impressed for Villa this season, names like Rogers and Amadou Onana have made headlines.
Still, the midfielder was a defensive fortress against Leeds, as he has been for much of the season.
Kamara won 10 duels against the Whites, which was only the fourth time a Villa player has won 10 or more duels in a single Premier League game this season, according to Aston Villa Statto.
The last player to do so was Kamara in Villa’s 2-1 win over Tottenham, with the two other feats also claimed by the French wall.
If that sensational metric doesn’t impress Villa fans, then it’s safe to say that little will.

Boubacar Kamara was the complete package vs Leeds
While his defensive efforts stood out at Elland Road, Kamara delivered a complete performance for the Villans yet again.
Indeed, the 26-year-old made two key passes while 75 per cent of his long balls were accurate, according to Sofascore.
Kamara also completed 100 per cent of his dribbles against the Whites and was fouled twice, helping push his side forward against a fired-up Leeds side.
However, it’s understandable why his defending stole the show:
- Kamara won 50 per cent of his tackles
- He also won 80 per cent of his ground duels and 100 per cent of his aerial duels
- He made four recoveries and blocked shots
The defensive-minded midfielder also made two interceptions and blocked one shot over the 90 minutes.
It was a sensational performance that only improved during Villa’s second-half push to victory and one that proved how important he is to Emery’s side.
