Unai Emery will be raging as new Chelsea footage emerges after Aston Villa controversy
Chelsea were fortunate not to concede a penalty against Burnley despite Tyrone Mings being penalised for a similar action against Club Brugge last season.
The Villans are currently playing in the UEFA Europa League after failing to secure Champions League football for a second year running.
Villa recently triumphed in a 2-0 victory over Maccabi Tel-Aviv, which came after Villa’s shock 2-1 defeat to Go Ahead Eagles back in October.
As a result, the Villans are currently sixth in the Europa League, and Unai Emery will be content with their start to the competition.
But that doesn’t mean he won’t be looking back regretfully at some moments in the Champions League last season.

Aston Villa treated harshly vs Club Brugge
Villa conceded their first goal of last season’s Champions League campaign when a penalty was awarded against Mings for handling the ball in the area in Brugge.
The situation was truly bizarre, where Mings picked the ball up on his own accord after a short goalkick from Emi Martinez, in what was a series of personal errors.
A year on from the incident and a similar occurrence took place in Chelsea’s 2-0 win over Burnley in the Premier League on Saturday.

Burnley were convinced they should’ve been awarded a first-half penalty against Chelsea when Trevoh Chalobah handled the ball inside the area at Turf Moor.
However, the Blues were let off the hook, unlike Villa last season.
Villa fans were very quick to jump onto the incident, with Adam Wright letting rip about the incident via X on 22 November.
He said: “More blatant than the Mings incident last season. Pen all day long.”
The referee’s decision will no doubt leave Emery raging, given the different treatment between the two sides, a consistent theme.
Unai Emery has one thing to focus on
While Emery will likely not have positive feelings around the Mings incident in the Champions League, the Premier League will be his current main objective.
Indeed, Villa take on Leeds United at Elland Road on Sunday, with high hopes of securing all three points.
Despite a slow start, the Villans have recovered well:
- Villa have netted 13 goals in the Premier League
- They have conceded 10 goals, which is the sixth-fewest
After Villa’s shock 4-0 triumph over Bournemouth, a victory against Leeds would make it back-to-back wins for Emery.
With Champions League football at the back of his mind, Emery’s full focus will be on the game on Sunday.
