Youri Tielemans bound to leave Aston Villa as contract saga drags on for obvious reason
Youri Tielemans may continue to hesitate over committing to Aston Villa if he believes there’s still one big move ahead of him.
Aston Villa have had no issue with renewing contracts in recent times, apart from with Tielemans.
Morgan Rogers extended his Villa stay until 2031, despite growing interest from Premier League and European giants.
Captain John McGinn also committed his future to Aston Villa earlier this season when putting pen to paper over a new contract until 2028.
Speculation has been ongoing over Tielemans’ future, but there have been no positive updates of late that show any signs of progression in talks of an extension.
The midfielder could yet be waiting for a big offer, but there’s one reason why he would only leave B6 at this time.

Youri Tielemans is in his prime and huge offers will come
Tielemans has shown his quality for Villa on numerous occasions and marked his Premier League return for the Villans with an assist against Bournemouth after almost eight weeks out.
The Belgian is now 28 years old, which means he’s in his prime footballing years.
Aston Villa is a big club – one of the biggest in Europe; however, Tielemans may have doubts about staying at Unai Emery‘s side during his peak years.
- Tielemans has played over 100 games for Villa
- He’s scored eight goals
- Tielemans won the Aston Villa Supporters and Players’ Player of the Year award last season
Atletico Madrid have expressed an interest in Tielemans in the past, and they set an example of the calibre of clubs that will chase the Villa midfielder’s signature.
His contract runs out in June of 2027, and Villa may be forced to cash in should they see no encouragement from Tielemans’ side.

There’s no doubt that Tielemans has a deep love for Villa; however, his age means he will most likely seek one last major move.

Aston Villa need to make Tielemans decision before the end of the season
It’s also possible that Tielemans is holding out to see how Villa finish the season.
If the Villans could achieve Champions League football once more, or see success in the UEFA Conference League, it could tempt the playmaker to remain at B6.
However, time is running out, and with each passing day, the price Villa can demand for Tielemans decreases as his contract gets shorter.
Both parties need to sit down and talk seriously about what happens next, and Villa need to learn Tielemans’ intentions to decide on whether to transfer list him or not before the end of this campaign.
