NSWE have finalised £60m Aston Villa agreement, ‘it’s the biggest in Villa Park history’

Morgan Rogers’ new contract has thrust Aston Villa into uncharted territory in recent days.

The England international has been one of the hottest properties in the Premier League over the last 12 months, so it is undoubtedly a major statement for the B6 outfit to have tied him down.

Rogers penned a new six-year deal at Aston Villa on Monday, which will keep him at Villa Park until the summer of 2031.

Unai Emery and Co. will be delighted to have finally settled his future in a positive sense, and the deal appears to have broken new ground in the club’s history.

Morgan Rogers contract extension is biggest ever Aston Villa deal

Rogers’ extension at Aston Villa is a hugely positive step for the club, and messages of support have been pouring in from the rest of the squad in recent days.

Ollie Watkins congratulated the 23-year-old in the comments of his Instagram post, and he is clearly delighted to see his international teammate commit his future to the Villans for the next few years.

Rogers has been subject to interest from almost all of the Premier League’s top clubs in recent transfer windows, and as a result, this deal will certainly not have come cheaply for the second city side.

Ex-Villa scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Villa News – believes that it is the biggest contract that has ever been dished out at Villa Park.

“For a six-year contract for a player of that quality, I’d say you’re looking at somewhere in the region of £60million now, if not more,” King said.

‘He’ll be on at least £10m-a-year now, that’s for sure. You’re talking about a contract here that I would imagine will be the biggest contract in Villa’s history.

“It also keeps away any future club that might be sniffing or looking. If you’ve got a player of that quality, then make sure you’re in a position to be able to recoup the money.”

Morgan Rogers deal should be followed by Emi Buendia extension

Aston Villa may hand out further extensions after securing Rogers’ future, and Emi Buendia will surely be right at the top of their list if that scenario plays out.

The Argentine’s current deal doesn’t expire until the summer of 2027, but his resurgence this season has surely indicated that he is worthy of another contract, at least.

Buendia has arguably been the key creator for Emery’s men so far this term, which is a testament to his character, as many people had written him off after his loan stint with Bayer Leverkusen last season.

It remains to be seen whether Rogers’ deal will spark a flurry of further activity at Villa Park, but if more new deals are in the pipeline, then there are few players who are more deserving than Buendia.
