Matty Cash’s statistics against Bournemouth prove his game has evolved for the better of Aston Villa.
Unai Emery’s Aston Villa battered Bournemouth 4-0 on Sunday, as a noisy Villa Park roared one last time before the November international break.
Emi Buendia scored a stunning goal on his return to the starting lineup, as Villa look a much better side with the Argentine in it.
Emi Martinez saved a huge penalty against Bournemouth, which was arguably the most important moment of the match, as both the Argentines were on top form.
However, Cash’s performance deserves to be looked at in-depth, as the numbers prove he is a man transformed.

Villa started the season poorly, but Emery persisted with Cash as his starting right-back.
The Villans will be grateful Emery has kept his faith in Cash, but the Poland international’s statistics against Bournemouth prove that he’s making himself an easy selection for his boss to make.

Cash has been praised this season, as it feels he’s delivered constant, solid performances, whether that be in a poor result for Villa or a good one, with his defensive game now flourishing.
The right-back is averaging 1.6 tackles per game and had an impressive 70 per cent pass accuracy against Andoni Iraola’s side, despite playing multiple forward passes in the opposition’s half, and attempting four long balls.
However, as resolute as Cash is looking this season, he hasn’t always been praised for his defensive work.
What was previously said about Cash’s defending?
Aston Villa suffered heartbreak when they were pushed out of the Champions League knockout stages by eventual winners PSG last campaign.
During Villa’s first leg defeat to PSG in April, there were calls for Cash to be hooked at half-time due to a poor defensive display.
However, this wasn’t the only time that Cash was called out for poor defending, as it seemed to be a recurring problem with the right-back last campaign and in previous years.
Cash and Villa will now look to harness his good form moving forward, as Emery will be hoping his star comes back in one piece after international duty with Poland in November.
