Jadon Sancho fate sealed at Man United as door opens for permanent Aston Villa transfer

Jadon Sancho could yet be in line to stay at Aston Villa beyond the end of his loan spell next summer.

The Manchester United loanee has fallen badly out of favour with his parent club, and he has spent time on loan at various Premier League clubs in recent years.

Sancho was excellent for Aston Villa in their recent victory over Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Europa League, despite what has been a relatively slow start to his stint in B6 this term.

Unai Emery will be desperate to extract more from the talented England international during the coming months, and that could even lead to his stay at Villa Park being extended.

Man United decide against Jadon Sancho contract extension

Sancho arrived at Aston Villa with a massive reputation behind him, given that he moved to England in an £73million switch from Borussia Dortmund back in 2021.

Things have largely not worked out for the winger since he returned to his homeland, and that has also been the overriding theme of his time with the Villans so far as well.

He is yet to record his first goal contribution in a claret and blue shirt, although he has shown a little more promise during his most recent appearances.

The door is now firmly open for Villa to explore the possibility of a permanent move for Sancho in the summer, with Manchester United having now settled on a decision that has effectively sealed his fate.

The Red Devils are understood to have opted against triggering the automatic one-year extension clause in the 25-year-old’s contract, according to Fichajes.

That means that the wideman will leave Old Trafford as a free agent next summer, and that may well appeal to Villa.

It is understood that the second city outfit “could consider” Sancho as a cut-price option, provided that he ups his level between now and then.

Aston Villa got deadline day badly wrong

Aston Villa also brought Harvey Elliott in on deadline day, and that pair of acquisitions certainly haven’t paid off for them so far.

Sancho may not have had the impact that he is perhaps capable of so far, but even he isn’t in quite as bad a situation as Elliott at the moment.

The midfielder hasn’t played a single minute for his loan side across their last five games in all competitions, and there are already suggestions that Villa may try to wriggle out of their agreement to buy him at the end of the season.

In hindsight, Emery and Co. got their deadline day business badly wrong, and unless Sancho turns his form around pretty drastically, the pair could both suffer a similar fate.
