Tyrone Mings

Tyrone Mings has been sidelined for Villa this season due to injury and will be unable to face his former side when Villa welcomes Bournemouth to Villa Park.

Indeed, Mings played for the Cherries before the Villans, signing for Bournemouth back in 2015.

The defender joined the Villans on 31 January 2019 on a season-long loan before signing on a permanent transfer later that summer.

Tommy Elphick

Tommy Elphick signed for Bournemouth from Brighton on a three-year contract back in the summer of 2012.

He made his debut for the Cherries in the opening game of the season, where he earned his first start and played the full 90 of their 1-1 draw to Portsmouth.

Furthermore, he went on to make 145 appearances for Bournemouth, where he netted six goals and provided two assists.

After four years at the Cherries, Elphick became Villa’s first signing since their relegation to the Championship back in June 2016.

He was appointed captain ahead of the 2016/17 season but was later dropped from the first team by new manager Steve Bruce.

After a rocky two years at Villa, Elphick joined Championship club Reading on loan for the rest of the 2017/18 season. He will be present when Villa faces Bournemouth as Iraola’s assistant coach.

Gary Cahill

Gary Cahill started his Villa career in their academy, where he initially began as a midfielder before transitioning into a centre-back.

After showing promise, Cahill was loaned to Burnley during the 2004/05 season, where he was named as the Clarets’ Young Player of the Year.

Upon his return to Villa, the defender made his debut for the club in 2005 in the second round of the League Cup. After three years with the Villans, Cahill joined Bolton Wanderers on a three-year deal.

Bournemouth was the final club Cahill signed for after an extensive playing career back in August 2021. He was released at the end of their promotion-winning season and later announced his retirement from football in November 2022.
