Jeff Stelling can’t believe what he saw from ‘absolutely phenomenal’ Aston Villa ace in Man City win
Aston Villa secured a stunning 1-0 win over Manchester City on Sunday afternoon.
It was the perfect reaction to Villa’s defeat to Go Ahead Eagles in midweek as Pep Guardiola and Co were stunned at Villa Park.
The only downside was Villa star Emi Buendia being spotted on crutches as Unai Emery’s side secured a memorable win.
Erling Haaland was absolutely neutralised by the Villans, and one star was the best player on the pitch for the hosts.

Amadou Onana leaves Jeff Stelling stunned in Aston Villa win
Amadou Onana was the pick of the bunch for Emery’s side, as he put in a brilliant display against the Citizens.
Jeff Stelling was blown away by the Belgian midfielder’s performance as he won six out of seven ground duels and was not dribbled past once, per Sofascore.
Speaking on talkSPORT on 27 October, he said: “Amadou Onana, immense, I don’t think I have ever seen him play better than he did for Villa that day against Manchester City.
“He was absolutely phenomenal.”

Emery has new undroppable at Villa after Onana showing against Manchester City
Not many names on the Villans’ teamsheet are considered undroppable at the moment, but Onana should be one of them.
The former Everton man was fantastic against Guardiola’s side, and his showing was probably his best in a Villa shirt so far.
- Onana has made 40 appearances since joining Villa for £50million in 2024
- He has 24 caps for the Belgian national team
- He finally looks like the midfielder that the Villans paid for
The hope will be that he can kick on, and become a key asset for the B6 outfit, and on the latest evidence, that is definitely possible.
Stelling is right to praise the 24-year-old for his display, and he needs to be in the side as much as possible, to continue to grow as a player and reach the heights that the Villans expected him to, when they signed him.
If Emery places his trust in the midfielder, there is every chance that it will be repaid, and he will develop into one of the best stars in the Premier League in his position.
He needs to believe in Onana and give him the tools to show it.
