Chris Woakes gives brilliant Aston Villa answer to Ashes question, it was never in doubt

Chris Woakes in one of the most high-profile Aston Villa supporters in the world.

The former England cricketer is a diehard fan of the Villa Park outfit, and used to attend matches regularly before his career got in the way.

Unai Emery’s Villa have been great lately, and the 36-year-old will have loved watching his beloved side under the Spaniard.

However, he seems to be dreaming of slightly more success than simply qualifying for the Champions League.

Chris Woakes’ answer to Aston Villa question was brilliant

Woakes was asked whether he would rather Villa won the Premier League or England won the upcoming Ashes series against Australia.

He answered in typical fashion, it was never in doubt, that he would want his beloved Villans to win the title.

Speaking on the Stick to Cricket podcast on 21 October, he said: “What now? I’d take Villa to win the Premier League.

“I’ve not seen it have I, I have seen England win the Ashes.”

Whether that is a realistic ambition remains to be seen.

What other celebrities support Aston Villa

Woakes is far from the only famous person to support the B6 club, in fact he may not even be in the top five for that list.

The most known celebrity follower of Aston Villa has surely got to be Prince William, who is the next in line to the British throne.

American filmmaker Tom Hanks is another highly-famous figure who supports the Villans, and they can also boast former Prime Minister David Cameron on that list.

The late great Ozzy Ozbourne was a Villa fan before he sadly passed earlier this year, as is Irish actor Brendan Gleeson.

Woakes will not be alone in hoping that Emery can have a successful campaign this time around, as the Villans clearly have a decent, famous following.

He is not even the only England cricketer to support the Birmingham-based outfit, with Ian Bell also being a fan of the Lions.
