Aston Villa told to agree £200,000-a-week Morgan Rogers contract amid £100m exit claim
Aston Villa are once again trying to tie Morgan Rogers down to a new contract.
The 23-year-old has seen his influence at Villa Park grow with every passing week over the last year or so, and he is beginning to find form again after a slow start to the season.
Rogers scored a stunner for Aston Villa in their win over Tottenham on Sunday, after he also found the back of the net for England during the recent international break.
The attacker is constantly the subject of interest from some of the Premier League’s top clubs, and Unai Emery and Co. are in no doubts as to what it will take to keep him.

Aston Villa will need £180k-a-week offer to keep Morgan Rogers
Aston Villa are lining up a new deal for Rogers once again, having previously tried to secure his future during the recent summer transfer window.
That window brought consistent suggestions of a potential move to the likes of Tottenham and Chelsea, but the second city outfit eventually made it beyond the deadline with the jewel in their crown still in tact.
Their intention is now to try and tie him down to a bumper new contract, which will likely need to rival the type of deal that he could earn for himself elsewhere.
Ex-Villa scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Villa News – believes that his former employers won’t have a chance of reaching an agreement with Rogers unless they can table a hugely lucrative offer.
“To keep a player like that, you’ve got to look at anywhere between £180,000 and £200,000 a week to be honest,” King said.
“You’ve got to show that you’re serious in order to make him serious. If you’re a potential £100million player, then you want to be on wages that are equivalent to that kind of fee.
“There’s no danger that there’d be three or four clubs who would be after him if not, and they’d be prepared to pay £100m for him.

“He’s got to prove that he’s committed to Villa, and if he’s going to be offered that kind of money, then he’s got to show his commitment to the football club.”

Villa can’t succumb to PSR temptation with Morgan Rogers
Aston Villa are still facing PSR concerns ahead of the January window, and that has once again prompted suggestions in regards to which players could be sold.
Rogers’ name is always likely to crop up in these discussions, given the significant amount of profit that a potential sale would bring to Villa.
However, they must do everything that they can to resist the urge to alleviate their PSR constraints through a bumper sale.
Having the capability to spend is one thing, but being able to use that effectively is another, and it would be difficult for the recruitment department to find another player of Rogers’ quality mid-season.
With that in mind, regardless of how the contract situation unfolds in the coming weeks, they have to continue to fight the temptation to sell him if interest arises again.
