Aston Villa will be rubbing their hands together after surprise Thomas Frank reveal

Aston Villa return to action with a trip to Tottenham on Sunday, and they have reason to be confident.

Villa are the underdogs for the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium clash on 19 October, but their recent form has improved after a miserable start to the campaign.

Unai Emery‘s side have won their last four matches in all competitions, and could move up to seventh in the Premier League, depending on results elsewhere.

The Spaniard should be up for the contest, especially after a surprising reveal about his history with Spurs boss Thomas Frank.

Thomas Frank has never beaten Aston Villa boss Unai Emery

Aston Villa have several players returning to the squad, and that is not the only reason for hope from those of a claret and blue disposition.

In five attempts, Frank has never managed to beat Emery in the top-flight, which is the most that he has ever faced a manager in the division without winning.

His Brentford side lost three times and drew twice against the Villans when he was in charge.

Aston Villa have an immense record after the international break

Another reason for Emery and Co to be confident, other than his brilliant personal record against the ex-Bees boss, is Villa’s recent record after the international break.

The Villa Park outfit have won eight of their last 10 matches that have come after the break, and they have drawn the other two games.

They also have an immense record against the Lilywhites recently, winning four of their last six top-flight matches against that particular opposition.

One thing is for certain, it should be an entertaining match, as none of the last 20 league matches between the sides have ended in a draw, with 14 Spurs wins and six Villa victories.

Emery’s history with Frank will have the Villans rubbing their hands together, but it does not guarantee a victory, his side will have to perform on the pitch for that.
