Only Declan Rice can match ‘excellent’ Aston Villa star in this staggering England reveal
England smashed Latvia 5-0 in Riga on Tuesday, officially confirming their qualification for the 2026 World Cup.
Aston Villa could have three players going to the World Cup with Thomas Tuchel‘s squad next year, but competition still remains.
Ezri Konsa‘s selection looks dead set, with the defender continuing to impress for both the Three Lions, and Unai Emery‘s side.
Morgan Rogers was superb for England against Wales, and would appear to have caught Tuchel‘s eye, but the midfielder will need to get back in form for his club to stave off any competition.
Ollie Watkins scored against Wales as well as Rogers, and the striker is in pole position to serve as the option behind starter Harry Kane.

Morgan Rogers alongside Declan Rice in England stat
Rogers has more open play assists than any other Premier League player in 2025, but there is no doubting that the midfielder has got off to a slow start this season.
The 23-year-old had set himself such high expectations after his performances last season, which earned him the PFA Young Player of the Year award, but he has failed to live up to them.
And when Villa got off to a poor start, so did Rogers, failing to register a goal or an assist in any of the Villans’ opening six games.
The last two Premier League games have exhibited flashes of the midfielder Villa fans fell in love with, however, and there is hope that the good form will return as swiftly as it left.
Tuchel has not lost any faith in the 23-year-old, as a staggering stat revealed after England’s victory over Latvia.
The German has elected to hand minutes to Rogers in each and every one of the eight games he has spent in charge of England, with Arsenal’s Declan Rice the only other player to boast that honour.
Thomas Tuchel a huge fan of ‘excellent’ Rogers
Tuchel lauded Rogers after the midfielder had scored his first-ever England goal against Wales last week.
“Morgan was excellent like the whole team,” the German told the media. “He’s very humble, he’s very physical. He has the ability to score and to assist.

“He had a fantastic season and was deservedly voted as the young player of the season in the Premier League.”
But the former Chelsea man did not even need to use words to demonstrate his fondness for Rogers, he shows it in his selection.
The 23-year-old has not been at his best this season, but the seismic talent Villa have on their hands should not be forgotten in a hurry.
