Aston Villa eye their own Dean Huijsen as record transfer could be on for January

Roberto Olabe is preparing moves to improve Aston Villa in January.

Unai Emery reunited with Olabe after Monchi’s departure, with the pair having had previous success in the transfer market at Real Sociedad.

Aston Villa have already been linked with players ahead of January, as signings are almost a certainty after Emery turned the Villans’ form around.

Villa are already trying to tie down Morgan Rogers to a new deal to fend off potential buyers in January, and the latest update suggests a record transfer could be on the table at B6.

Wilfried Singo on Aston Villa’s January transfer wishlist

Aston Villa appear to be in the market for another centre-back after Tyrone Mings’ injury.

According to Turkish outlet Sabah’s print edition on Monday, Villa are targeting Galatasaray defender Wilfried Singo.

The report states that Singo is on Villa’s wishlist but it would take a record sale from Galatasaray of around £43m to get a deal done.

Singo plays prominently as a centre-back but can also be used at right-back.

As per FBref, Singo’s stats match up most similarly to Dean Huijsen‘s, who made the move from the Premier League to Real Madrid in the summer.

With Singo’s proposed price tag, he would almost certainly smash Villa’s transfer record, but would he be worth it?

Singo could be perfect for Unai Emery’s Aston Villa

Mings has started six out of Villa’s six opening games in the Premier League this season, but with another injury, it’s time for Emery’s side to look to the future.

As seen by the stats, the Ivorian Singo is a dominant defender who wins most of his duels.

Singo is also a centre-back who is comfortable with the ball at his feet, hence his ability to play right-back.

His profile matches up perfectly for what’s required to be a successful Premier League centre-back, and at 24 years old, he could be exactly the type of signing Villa are craving.
