Aston Villa fans will already love what Craig Bellamy has said about Dylan Lawlor amid massive transfer interest

Aston Villa are already preparing for the upcoming January transfer window as they look to return to the top half of the table.

Unai Emery already has multiple positions to work on, with Villa currently struggling to score goals.

However, their attack isn’t the only area that needs improving, with the Birmingham outfit needing reinforcements all over the pitch.

One position that could do with reinforcing is their backline, with Emery now looking at a possible move for Dylan Lawlor.

Craig Bellamy: What a player Dylan Lawlor is

Aston Villa are known for signing youngsters and helping them reach their potential, and they could be looking to repeat this trick soon

Ahead of the January transfer window, reports emerged that Villa are tracking Lawlor.

According to Onetheminute.com on 12 October, Emery’s side have joined multiple European and Premier League clubs in showing interest in the Cardiff centre-back.

The 19-year-old made his debut for the Welsh outfit last season and has now become a regular in League One.

After being awarded the EFL Young Player of the Month in August, the centre-back was awarded his senior Wales debut in September, winning the Player of the Match in their 1-0 victory over Kazakhstan.

As a result, Wales boss Craig Bellamy was full of praise for the centre-back after a successful first senior appearance.

“Beyond impressed,” Bellamy said of Lawlor to Border Telegraph on 5 September. “What a player.

“He was so just so impressive, and we needed him to be because we were fully aware of the pull-outs.

“Joe Rodon was gone, and there are times you look and think, ‘how are we going to cope without Joe because he’s such an immense player for us?’

“This helps. We have the sort of player underneath him now, (who is) going to rival everyone.

“He’s a big plus to come out of this, we gained a big player from this.”

How good is Lawlor?

If Aston Villa do go through with the signing of Lawlor, there are plenty of signs to suggest it would be a successful transfer.

According to Fotmob on 12 October, the defender excels at passing, one of the key components of a modern-day defender.

On top of this, his dribbling is also extremely impressive, completing 100 per cent so far this season.

Hopefully, Villa will be able to quickly get the deal over the line before another club swoops in.

If not, Emery could miss out on yet another transfer target at Villa, which could come back to haunt the Birmingham outfit in the coming years.
