Aston Villa fans furious as Donyell Malen ‘robbed’ in new announcement

Donyell Malen enjoyed a stunning performance for Aston Villa against Burnley on Sunday.

The winger scored on either side of half time as Villa beat Burnley 2-1, with Lesley Ugochukwu’s late consolation ultimately proving meaningless.

Malen has impressed in recent weeks for Villa and was finally rewarded with a starting role by his manager, Unai Emery.

And the Dutchman grabbed the opportunity with both hands, showing superb composure with both finishes.

Boubacar Kamara was another standout for Villa against Burnley, with the Frenchman rightly receiving plaudits for his impact after the game.

‘Disgrace’ as EA Sports snub Donyell Malen for team of the week

Troy Deeney named Malen in his Premier League team of the week, but EA Sports have seemingly ignored the winger’s performance.

EA Sports released the team of the week, a set of promotional cards released into packs on the football video game FC 26, on Wednesday, with the Villa man missing.

Villans instantly reacted with a mix of anger and bemusement, having presumably been keen to play with the card in the game.

One fan said the decision was a “disgrace“, whilst another claimed the winger had been “robbed“.

A Villa fan suggested that “EA hates the Villa“, after pointing out that Emi Buendia has also been snubbed for the team of the week after his match-winning display against Fulham.

Villa fans won’t care about EA Sports after what Alan Shearer said

Villa fans are right to be disappointed about the absence of Malen in EA Sports’ team of the week.

The winger’s inclusion would have given them a promotional card to play with in the game, and likely a strong one too.

But EA have proven time and time again that they care much more about selling in-game microtransactions, rather than actual football.

The opinion of a pundit, such as Alan Shearer, should prove much more valuable. The Premier League record scorer was hugely complimentary of Malen when naming the Villa man in his own team of the week.

Shearer told the Premier League that Malen “timed his runs to perfection and produced two ruthless finishes against Burnley as Villa continued their recent resurgence.”
