Emi Buendia ‘one of the surprises of the season’ after shock developments at Aston Villa
To the surprise of just about everyone, Emi Buendia has become an Aston Villa regular this season.
Buendia spent time on loan at Bayer Leverkusen last season, but didn’t rip up any trees before his return to Villa Park in the summer.
There was a widespread feeling that Buendia would leave Villa for Leeds or elsewhere, as his spell under Unai Emery looked to be over.
The Argentine has gone on to be a regular and has put in some top performances, with Buendia netting against Fulham in the Premier League.
Questions have still been raised about Buendia’s future in the Midlands as the January transfer window approaches.

Emi Buendia destined to stay at Aston Villa
Buendia has been linked away from Villa even after what has been a hugely positive start to the campaign in claret and blue.
The 28-year-old has netted two and assisted one in his last three appearances as he settles back into life in B6 after returning from loan.
This has raised eyebrows in the wider footballing world, as shock surrounds the way that the attacking midfielder has worked his way back into Emery’s thinking.
Iconic commentator Ian Darke believes his success has been due to circumstance, but sees him sticking around beyond the January window.
Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Darke said: “It’s one of the surprises of the season at Villa, Buendia.
“I think because of their various financial issues and the fact that they had to sell Jacob Ramsey, he’s forced himself back into the reckoning after being on the fringes.
“Money is tight, and they aren’t going to be able to add to things in January.
“It looks like he’s back in the fold.“
Aston Villa right to show faith in Buendia
The Argentine has always been well-liked on the terraces in Witton, so it is excellent to see him thriving this campaign.
It is fortunate for Emery and Co. that Buendia has done so, following what has been a difficult start to the campaign for Morgan Rogers.

The England international has failed to score a goal yet this season and is in desperate need of a pick-me-up in Claaret and blue.
The former Norwich City man has done that for the Villa faithful, proving why Emery was right to back the diminutive attacker this season.
