Morgan Rogers leads Premier League in key stat to Unai Emery’s delight
Unai Emery has managed to turn Aston Villa’s fortunes around as the club has won their last three games in a row.
Morgan Rogers has been central to Aston Villa‘s success in recent times, as he has progressed massively under Emery since moving from Middlesbrough.
However it hasn’t been so smooth sailing this season, as Rogers have faced criticism more than he ever has before, perhaps coming from the reliance on the England international.
Emery has spoke on Rogers’ poor form, as it’s no coincidence that Villa have hit form as soon as Rogers has started performing.
In Villa’s 2-1 win over Burnley on Saturday, an admirable Premier League stat has emerged with Rogers’ name on it.

Morgan Rogers has more open play assists than any other Premier League player in 2025
Rogers won the PFA’s Young Player of the Season award last campaign, an award that was previously won by his former Manchester City youth academy teammate, Cole Palmer.
The accolade was deserved, as Rogers not only excelled in the Premier League but also showed his talent at the highest level, helping Villa to the Champions League Quarter-final.
Rogers now has two assists in as many Premier League games, as he finally looks to have arrived this campaign, with his stunning stat now emerging.
Position | Player | Assists |
1 | Mohamed Salah | 18 |
2 | Jacob Murphy | 12 |
3 | Anthony Elanga | 11 |
4 | Morgan Rogers | 10 |
Morgan Rogers has nine open play assists in the Premier League in 2025, more than any other player, according to TNT Sports.
Last season, Rogers established himself as one of the deadliest attacking players in the Premier League, and he now looks to continue his recent resurgence of form.
Emery was under immense pressure as Villa boss recently, and Rogers’ return to form has come at a good time for the head coach.
Rogers is Unai Emery’s key for success at Aston Villa
Rogers has played the full 90 in all four of Villa’s previous games, in both the Premier League and Champions League.
Rogers provided an assist for Donyell Malen’s second goal against Burnley, which ultimately turned out to be the winning goal.
Rogers has been linked away from Villa, as he has one of the most unique profiles in Europe. The 23-year-old’s ball-carrying ability is second to none, as he is always looking to play balls into the final third.
Emery has to hope Rogers can stay injury-free whilst away with England, as if his star man returns unscathed, Villa can really kick on.
