Lamare Bogarde excellence unleashes Aston Villa teammate in win vs Burnley

Lamare Bogarde caught the eye as Aston Villa secured a 2-1 win against Burnley.

Villa beat Burnley on Sunday at Villa Park to make it four wins from four in all competitions for Unai Emery’s side.

A Donyell Malen brace made the difference as the Dutchman netted his first two Premier League goals of the campaign on 5 October.

It was his countryman who drew compliments in B6 as Bogarde came in alongside Boubacar Kamara against Burnley and showcased his qualities once again.

Bogarde was excellent against Everton earlier in the season, but his performance against Burnley allowed the Villans to thrive.

It says a lot about the 21-year-old that no questions were asked when he was included from the start in B6.

Bogarde has been superb for Villa this season and helped the claret and blue outfit to secure yet another win against Scott Parker’s men.

The Netherlands under-21 international featured across 89 minutes and was able to keep the home side ticking over throughout.

He maintained a 97 per cent pass accuracy with his 58 attempts as the defensive midfielder also took 68 touches at Villa Park.

Bogarde went on to win three duels and was fouled three times in the process as he showcased his talents in the middle of the park.

This output was impressive, but it was his positional sense and defensive mindset that helped Matty Cash to thrive down the right flank.

The youngster has excellent versatility and has already covered central midfield, centre-half and right-back in claret and blue.

It is the latter that paid dividends for the Villans against Burnley as Bogarde was able to slot into the right-hand side of defence in attacking phases.

This was showcased in the youngster’s heatmap as the majority of his play was focused on the same areas as Cash.

This afforded the Poland international chances to get forward as he took one shot and attempted two crosses against the Clarets.

The right-back could have done more going forward, but his output could improve this campaign if allowed the freedom to roam down the right.

It will be interesting to see how he is impacted when the likes of Youri Tielemans and Amadou Onana return, but for now, he is being massively boosted by Bogarde.
