Aston Villa handed Tyrone Mings warning following injury update
Aston Villa fans feared the worst when Tyrone Mings suddenly went off in the 32nd minute against Fulham.
The defender was replaced by Pau Torres following the injury, with Aston Villa going on to defeat Fulham 3-1.
In his absence, the defence has been strong, with Torres and Ezri Konsa again impressing against Feyenoord in midweek.
However, should either of the pair get injured, worries will begin over their depth at the back, and they have been handed mixed news on Mings’ injury.

Muscular issues anticipated for Tyrone Mings following injury
The Villans currently have a bit of an injury crisis going on, with Emi Martinez replaced by Marco Bizot just before kick-off against Feyenoord.
This could be worsened during the international break, with Amadou Onana called up to Belgium, despite not being fully fit.
Mings’ setback was not related to his previous knee injuries, with injury specialist Dr Brar confirming that another knock to his knee would have been costly.
However, his injury to his ankle is still a concern even though he is set to return to first-team duties after the October international break.
Speaking exclusively with West Ham Zone, Dr Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and a Sports Scientist, said: “A third would be extremely challenging – as are the previous two – because it’s another nine-month absence in addition to another major insult to his knee.
“That being said, this injury looks to be relatively mild and to his ankle, with his return expected after the international break.

“Considering how long he’s been out for, I would anticipate him to still be dealing with some muscular issues for the foreseeable future as his body continues to adapt to the demands of Premier League football.”

When will Tyrone Mings return to action?
Emery won’t worry too much about Mings’ injury, considering it is only short-term.
However, Aston Villa fans have been concerned about the number of setbacks the defender has had over his career and will worry it will happen again.
- Tyrone Mings was sidelined for about 15 months at Bournemouth after an anterior cruciate ligament tear
- At Aston Villa, Tyrone Mings’ ACL injury (suffered in August 2023) kept him out for more than 400 days
Given Dr Brar’s comments, it would be wise for him to be slowly eased back into action, or another more serious injury could come his way.
Mings is expected to return for the game against Manchester City on 26 October, but in what is set to be a demanding game, it would be wise for Emery to delay his return until they play Liverpool a week later.
