Aston Villa named with Real Madrid, PSG and Bayern Munich in staggering European stat
Aston Villa emerged victorious in Rotterdam on Thursday in what was the third consecutive win across all competitions for Emery’s side.
John McGinn and Emi Buendia were on target as Villa beat Feyenoord 2-0 to maintain their perfect record in the Europa League so far this season.
The visitors had been under the cosh in the first half and could have gone behind when the ball appeared to cross the line beyond Marco Bizot, but the referee blew up for a foul.
There was controversy at the other end, too, when Anel Ahmedhodzic was booked for a last-man foul on Ollie Watkins.
Stiliyan Petrov believed Feyenoord should have gone down to ten men against Villa, describing the incident as a “really poor decision”.

Aston Villa represent England alongside European giants
Emery was full of praise for Bizot’s performance against Feyenoord, and rightly so, the goalkeeper was in stunning form.
With a staggering eight saves, the Dutchman was crucial to Villa‘s victory and was full value for the clean sheet he walked away with.
According to AVFCStatto, Bizot is the first Villa goalkeeper to make eight saves in a match while keeping a clean sheet in a win since December 2019.
And in all European competition this season, the 34-year-old is the only shot-stopper to have faced 15 or more shots without conceding a goal.

Boubacar Kamara was another standout for the Villans, with the midfielder putting in another dominant display.
The Frenchman was everywhere defensively and maintained his composure when in possession, despite the intimidating atmosphere created by the Feyenoord fans.
Thursday’s win marked another impressive European night for Emery‘s side, with their presence in an impressive stat proving just how good the Spaniard’s team have been over the last couple of years.
According to Opta, since Villa returned to major European competition in 2023-24, only Real Madrid, PSG and Bayern Munich have won more than the 16 games the Premier League side have.
European glory on the menu for Unai Emery
Villa look on course for European glory, and in Emery, they have one of the very best managers for the job.
The Spaniard has won the Europa League a record four times, and has registered more points in the competition than any other manager.
There is a long way for Villa to go yet, but wins against Bologna and Feyenoord have kicked off their European path in the best possible way.
