Unexpected Aston Villa star tops Premier League charts for little-known metric
Aston Villa looked a lot stronger in their 3-1 win against Fulham at the weekend.
Unai Emery will now look ahead to their Europa League tie with Feyenoord on Thursday, as they look to continue their strong start to the competition.
Aston Villa beat Bologna 1-0 last week thanks to a long-range effort from John McGinn, and they are finally starting to find their feet in front of goal.
Equally, they have looked strong defensively, with their strong midfield partnership important to their upturn in form.

Lamare Bogarde tops metric in the Premier League
Lamare Bogarde has been a standout for the Villans this season.
Bogarde was a rock in midfield against Everton last month, and despite Villa’s disappointing start to the season, he has been a strong point.
McGinn and Bogarde have formed a strong pairing in the middle of the park, which has looked formidable.
Aston Villa faced an injury crisis in midfield, with Youri Tielemans, Boubacar Kamara, Amadou Onana, and Ross Barkley unavailable at times this campaign.
However, 21-year-old Bogarde has stepped up for Emery.
Lamare Bogarde’s stats in that game vs Everton
- 83 minutes played
- 29/30 passes completed (97%)
- 9/12 duels won (75%)
Among Premier League players who have attempted 50 or more passes under high-intensity pressure from an opponent, Bogarde has the highest completion rate, completing 52 of his 56 passes (93 per cent).
Bogarde has managed to complete 92 successful passes and has a pass completion rate of 93.9 per cent.

Lamare Bogarde to save Aston Villa money in the future
Bogarde is a ready-made replacement for players like Tielemans.
His quick development could enable the Villans to sell Tielemans and Onana for big money in future transfer windows, which will relieve financial fair play worries.
In comparison to the midfielder, Tielemans has missed the last two games, and Onana has played just 154 minutes of football this season.
Therefore, it will be hard for the pair to come back into the side and displace the former Feyenoord youngster.
Equally, should his form continue, the Villans could sell Bogarde in future transfer windows and make some much-needed money.
