Aston Villa dodged bullet as ‘absolutely mental’ Alejandro Garnacho and Unai Emery claim made
Alejandro Garnacho was strongly linked to Aston Villa throughout the latest summer window.
Talks were held between Villa and Manchester United regarding Garnacho as transfer deadline day approached at Villa Park.
It looked as if a cut-price deal for Garnacho could have been done at Villa, with a move away from Old Trafford always looking likely.
In the end, Villa signed Jadon Sancho from Man United, and the Argentine went to Chelsea to link up with the Club World Cup champions.
Many fans in B6 believe Garnacho could be what Villa are missing right now, although it may have been a lucky escape for Unai Emery and Co.

Unai Emery escapes Alejandro Garnacho transfer mistake
Garnacho was keen to work with Emery at Villa, but it doesn’t look likely to get the chance after he opted in to a Stamford Bridge switch.
It hasn’t been the best start to life for the 21-year-old in the capital, picking up just 11 Premier League minutes so far.
This saw the winger come on at Brentford and ultimately cost Enzo Maresca’s side the points with a lapse in concentration at the back post.
Former Premier League midfielder Martin Allen has now seen enough to say that Emery would have hated to manage Garnacho.
Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Allen said: “Garnacho has come on a few times for Chelsea.
“Against Brentford, he failed to pick up his man before they scored the equaliser, which was down to Garnacho. It was shocking play with a minute to go.
“I’m not sure about him. He is quick, but defensively, he doesn’t bring anything to the table. Emery wouldn’t like that. Emery would have gone absolutely mental at him if he’d joined Villa.
“He’s careless and carefree. That’s probably why Manchester United kept losing all the time with him.“
Aston Villa may still regret Alejandro Garnacho miss
The defensive side of the Argentine’s game may not be at a great level, but he would still add something that Villa are currently missing.
Garnacho’s raw pace and ability to take on a man is unlike anyone else at Villa Park right now, which represents a concern for some fans in the Midlands.
Stat (Premier League 24-25) | Alejandro Garnacho |
Goal involvements | 8 |
Chances created | 37 |
Successful dribbles | 26 |
Duels won | 102 |
His signing would have represented a risk, but with such talent behind him, it may have been an opportunity to sign a potential superstar.
