Aston Villa next manager: Premier League boss installed major favourite as Unai Emery faces crisis

Unai Emery is under pressure at Aston Villa after going winless in five games this season.

Emery was seen storming down the tunnel against Sunderland before the full-time whistle blew, with some supporters questioning his commitment.

The Villans again struggled in front of goal against the Mackems and only went ahead thanks to a swerving long-range strike from Matty Cash.

With the director of football Monchi set to leave Aston Villa, it has made supporters question where Emery’s future lies.

Oliver Glasner favourite to replace Unai Emery

Emery’s current position at Villa Park isn’t under threat, though, as supporters know that can soon change.

However, Villa News has been told by a source close to Aston Villa that Emery has fallen out with four senior stars.

Disruption within the inner circle could be affecting performances on the pitch, and the Spaniard will face the sack should poor performances continue.

Betting website Gambling.com currently has Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner as the favourite to replace Emery should he lose his job in the coming weeks.

The three favourites for the Aston Villa job

The Austrian has already gotten the better of his Spanish counterpart this season, with Crystal Palace beating Aston Villa 3-0.

There have been reports that the ex-Frankfurt boss would be open to leaving Palace, after he threatened to step down on transfer deadline day.

Crystal Palace had been expected to sell star defender Marc Guehi, but were forced to pull out of any sale with the risk of losing their manager looming.

Aston Villa’s form vs Oliver Glasner

Aston Villa haven’t won in any of their last four games against Glasner, including the 3-0 defeat in the FA Cup semi-final, and bringing him to Villa Park would eradicate the problem.

The Villans have already been outclassed tactically against the Eagles, who are becoming a bit of a bogey team for them.

Aston Villa’s last four results vs Crystal Palace:

While Villa’s lack of goal threat is a worry this season, and the disruption with Monchi adds to that, there is no need to make a rushed decision with Emery.

The Spaniard has shown before that he can adapt and make the Villans compete, and there is no doubt that as they bed into the new season, more and more, results will come.
