Aston Villa alarm bells to ring after Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens developments

Aston Villa alarm bells have to ring over the future of Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens as co-owners.

The Villans have had a terrible start to the season, culminating most recently in Villa falling to a penalty shootout defeat against Brentford in the Carabao Cup.

Even with Harvey Elliott and Jadon Sancho coming in for their Villa debuts, they couldn’t help turn the tide and secure a win for Unai Emery’s side.

This has raised increased concern over the Villa Park club, having scored just one goal without winning a single match in the opening five games of the campaign.

As a result, the interest of Sawiris and Edens has to be questioned, especially if this terrible run of performances is to continue in B6.

Aston Villa form can’t be overlooked

The performance against the Bees may have been better than previous Villa outings against Crystal Palace and Co., but it still wasn’t anything to write home about.

There was a collection of positive performances, but someone like Evann Guessand represented a concern against Brentford.

The Ivory Coast wasn’t alone in this worry, but it is becoming a trend now as the majority of players continue to look disinterested in B6.

This, paired with a historically poor run of form to begin the campaign, has to see red flags be raised for Emery and the Villa owners.

As a result, the lack of appearances from Sawiris and Edens has to be seen as a concern in itself if the lack of form continues at Villa Park this season.

Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens must attend Villa Park

In tough times, fans need to be able to look to the hierarchy and feel as if they are doing all they can to turn the tide.

At the moment, that isn’t being seen with the Villa co-owners as the pair haven’t been seen watching the claret and blue outfit in person since the PSG away clash back in April.

Before that, it appears that Sawiris was last in attendance at Villa Park in October 2024 as the Villans secured a historic victory against Bayern Munich.

Either one of the co-owners may have watched on in the Midlands more recently, but it certainly hasn’t been publicised.

Should this absence from Villa Park continue for Sawiris and Edens, alongside the poor form, supporters’ concerns over their lack of interest will continue to grow.

Now, there will be hopes to see the owners at upcoming home fixtures and squash any fears that they could look to sell up in the near future.
