Ezri Konsa blasts PSR as he shares ‘crazy’ verdict on Aston Villa’s transfer window
Ezri Konsa hasn’t been shy in speaking out against PSR at Aston Villa.
The Villans have been seriously hampered by financial concerns this summer, with Villa co-owner Nassef Sawiris sharing his annoyance throughout the window at Villa Park.
This saw Villa sell Jacob Ramsey to Newcastle United, but still struggle to make signings until deadline day to add to Unai Emery’s squad.
Eventually, Harvey Elliott joined from Liverpool and Jadon Sancho arrived from Manchester United on loan, alongside Victor Lindelof on a free transfer.
Regardless of this, Konsa and everyone associated with the B6 club have been left frustrated by the monetary constraints that have limited them in recent months.

Ezri Konsa slams PSR restrictions at Aston Villa
It is no secret that finances have been on the agenda in the Midlands throughout the window as the claret and blue outfit looked to get their wage bill down.
This came as UEFA slapped Villa with a sizable fine due to breaches of their SCR rules before an agreement was reached to comply for the remainder of the window.
Ultimately, this stopped Monchi and Co. from bringing in many new signings, while parting ways with first-team players before the campaign began.
This has clearly had a telling impact on the squad at Bodymoor Heath, something which was on show in the 3-0 defeat against Crystal Palace.
Since that loss, Konsa has linked up with the England national team and has now spoken out via the Daily Mirror on 5 September about his frustrations towards PSR.
He said: “Yeah, it is crazy. I don’t understand it myself, but from the outside looking in, it doesn’t look too good. I know that. I know it’s really killed us this transfer window.
“We’re going to have to deal with what we’ve got now. Like I say, we’ve a great squad, I believe in our squad. I believe in our manager. Hopefully, the boys who have come in can really help us and push us on.”

Ezri Konsa loves the deadline day triple signing
With these sorts of comments, there is a risk that it forms a negative relationship with the new signings that have come in off the back of these PSR issues.
Villa have still managed to bring in five fresh faces, with the vast majority being seen as hugely positive additions to the squad this summer.
- Marco Bizot
- Evann Guessand
- Victor Lindelof
- Jadon Sancho
- Harvey Elliott
Konsa himself has echoed this, as he revealed his initial thoughts after the signings of Elliott, Sancho and Lindelof at Villa Park.
On this, he added: “I was only focusing on Aston Villa and later on, around 8 o’clock, I went on Aston Villa’s Twitter to see what happened!
“I saw that we signed three players, who are really good and have Premier League experience. I think that’s what we needed as well.”
This could prove to be the spark that the Villans need after a difficult start to the campaign, with a clash against Everton in the pipeline after the international break.
