Emi Martinez slammed at Aston Villa as details of contact with Manchester United star emerge

Emi Martinez wasn’t shy in his efforts to leave Aston Villa this summer.

After crying on the pitch after Villa beat Tottenham last season, many thought Martinez would have left Villa Park long before the campaign began.

Martinez had been linked away from Villa to Manchester United frequently, but those rumours went quiet until the final days of the transfer window.

This saw Martinez miss the clash against Crystal Palace, much to the annoyance of Unai Emery and the claret and blue supporters, as he looked to organise a move to Old Trafford.

With that being said, a move never came to fruition, with the conduct of Martinez now coming under heavy scrutiny from supporters and beyond.

Emi Martinez called Lisandro Martinez to advocate Manchester United move

Aston Villa fans have mostly turned on Martinez, with his behaviour being looked upon in a negative fashion by the wider footballing world.

To have one of the best players in the squad, and one who has shown their love for the club on many occasions, to try so desperately to leave was never going to go down well.

This isn’t getting any better as smaller details emerge from Bodymoor Heath around the antics of the Argentine international.

The latest indictment against Martinez has been revealed by The Athletic, with a report breaking on 1 September that the keeper called Lisandro Martinez to help force through a deal with United.

It is safe to say that former shot-stopper King has been left unimpressed by the 33-year-old for making direct contact with players at Old Trafford.

Speaking exclusively to Villa News, King said: “He’s just changed agents, that’s where the trouble is.

He’s got no right to be ringing up people at Manchester United – he’s under contract with Villa.

That will have been the agent who’s trying to do it, and obviously stirring it up. He’s obviously promised him that he’s going to be going to Manchester United, and it hasn’t happened.

The only reason that United went for Lammens is because he’s a third of the price that Martinez would have been.

I’d say to him, ‘Do you want to be first choice here? Because if not, then come Christmas, you will be on your way.’

There’s too much of the tail wagging the dog here.

Emi Martinez must leave Aston Villa soon

For such a much-loved player, it looks as if his spell at Villa Park is going to end on the sourest of notes.

Missing the clash against Crystal Palace was one thing, but the idea of him being so keen on forcing a move to the Red Devils is another.

This is especially the case given the fact that he has been hugely keen on linking up with Ruben Amorim since the January window.

Unfortunately, the Argentine will have a lot to do now to reignite his career in B6 and win round supporters after a terrible few days.
