Supercomputer predicts Aston Villa’s final Premier League position after Harvey Elliott and Jadon Sancho deals

Aston Villa’s deadline day business has given their season a new lease of life.

The arrivals of Jadon Sancho and Harvey Elliott at Villa Park are wonderful bits of business on paper that are sure to cheer up supporters after the disappointing transfer window they had endured up until the final day.

With key players like Morgan Rogers approving of Elliott’s move to Villa Park, Unai Emery’s side could finally be set to kickstart their season after the international break.

Following a poor opening three games, Emery’s side will be hoping to get back on track, but whether their new signings are enough to fire them back into the Champions League remains to be seen.

Aston Villa predicted to finish in top half of Premier League

Following Elliott’s and Sancho’s arrivals, hopefully results like Villa’s 3-0 defeat to Crystal Palace are things of the past.

They will need to be if the Villans have any ambitions of finishing in the top five, but according to Opta’s supercomputer, even their new deadline day signings might not be enough.

Opta currently has Villa to finish ninth, with an expected points total of 52.7.

A ninth-place finish would certainly not suffice for Villa, who should be aiming to play in the Europa League again at least, following their deadline day business.

Unai Emery must get Emi Martinez back on side to finish in European spots

Whilst Emery was justifiably infuriated with Martinez following his absence from the squad over the weekend, reintegrating the Argentina international into the team will surely help Villa’s chances of finishing higher than ninth.

Marco Bizot was poor against Palace, and despite Martinez’s attempts to push through a move to Manchester United, Emery and the Villa supporters must bite their tongue and bear with the goalkeeper for one more season.

A public apology would go a long way in rebuilding the bridges he seemingly burnt with the fanbase due to his actions, as all parties could then move on and focus on the season ahead.

If Martinez does not apologise, the 33-year-old better hope he is in fantastic form for the remainder of the upcoming campaign, or he will face unparalleled scrutiny.
