Aston Villa to announce another new transfer once FIFA confirmation arrives

Aston Villa had a relatively disappointing transfer window, with a lot of their transfer activity taking place in the last few days.

Harvey Elliott’s deadline day move to Villa Park is the big talking point, whilst Evann Guessand is still adapting to the Premier League following his arrival from Nice.

Unai Emery’s side have failed to score in any of their opening three matches, each of which they have failed to win.

Overall, Aston Villa have made five signings, while one more transfer is yet to be confirmed.

Fletcher Boyd yet to be announced by Aston Villa

Boyd will join Aston Villa from Aberdeen, having impressed for Scotland-U17s.

An article by the Daily Record on 2 September states that despite the deal being finalised 24 hours before the transfer deadline, Aston Villa won’t be able to announce the signing of the youngster until the move has been ‘ratified’ by FIFA.

As Boyd is under 18, there is a stricter signing process in play, and this could take four to six weeks for the move to be finalised.

The 17-year-old, who will sign for £1million, has been played well for Scotland-U17s, earning him a spot in the U19s squad.

Boyd will start training with the Aston Villa after the international break, as he is currently away on U19s duty.

Boyd became the youngest goalscorer in Aberdeen’s history when he scored against Hibernian in May 2024 at the age of 16.

Fellow arrival Evann Guessand needs to step up in next few games

Villa’s first major summer signing, Guessand, has been underwhelming when he has featured.

Having done little in substitute appearances at the start of the season, Guessand was finally given his first start, but he failed to impress as Villa lost 3-0 to Crystal Palace.

Despite playing second fiddle to Ollie Watkins, Guessand is likely to start in Villa’s Europa League games, with Emery expected to rotate his team for the league phase matches.

With Villa in desperate need to kickstart their season, Emery will be relying on his £30m signing to prove his worth.
