Emi Martinez snubbed by Man United as another club enter race for Aston Villa star

Emi Martinez has been trying to force a move to Manchester United after not featuring for Aston Villa against Crystal Palace.

Unai Emery was brutal when talking about Martinez’s absence from the squad, saying, “We need players to be focused, 100 per cent. He wasn’t.”

Question marks were also raised over Marco Bizot after he was at fault for two of the goals in the 3-0 defeat, and the Villans will need a new keeper after his poor performance.

However, Martinez could be forced to stay at Villa, with his move to United falling through and the transfer deadline approaching.

Galatasaray enter race for Emi Martinez

Manchester United appear to be signing young Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens instead of Martinez.

Aston Villa have shown interest of their own in Lammens, but were only going to approach Antwerp should their Argentine number one leave.

Emery’s side were demanding £35million for Martinez, and United appeared unwilling to match that fee and have moved on to a cheaper option in Lammens.

Villa may not want the 32-year-old to stay after he tarnished his reputation over the weekend, and have been searching for a solution.

Timeline of Martinez’s actions:

According to Fabrizio Romano on X, after Manchester United proceeded with the Lammens deal, solutions are being explored for Martinez.

The goalkeeper has been discussed at Galatasaray in recent hours.

Emi Martinez will regret his actions

There is now no way back for Martinez at Villa, and he could end up stuck training on his own until January.

If the goalkeeper had come out and expressed his desire to leave earlier in the window, he wouldn’t have tarnished his reputation with supporters.

Leaving it so late to ask to leave has left the Villans struggling to offload him and also worried that they won’t find a replacement in time.
