Aston Villa respond to Emi Buendia bid as £30m Will Osula agreement emerges at Newcastle

Aston Villa have been assessing the future of Emiliano Buendia with plenty of interest shown on deadline day.

Buendia was Aston Villa’s only bright spark in the 3-0 defeat to Crystal Palace as he created four chances – the most of any player.

Upon recovering from a major knee injury, Buendia spent the second half of last season at Bayer Leverkusen, but has been part of the first-team plans this summer.

Aston Villa’s late bid for William Osula could have left the Argentine free to leave, but updates have now emerged regarding the pair.

Aston Villa unable to sign William Osula due to UEFA spending rules

Further incomings and outgoings are expected in the Midlands today, with business likely to go right down to the wire.

Unai Emery is searching for a solution for Emi Martinez as his move to Manchester United fell through after he refused to play against Palace.

In terms of incomings, Harvey Elliott and Jadon Sancho will join on loan from Liverpool and Manchester United, respectively.

Villa were hoping to complete more business up front, with Newcastle’s Osula a target. However, that move is unlikely.

According to journalist Craig Hope on X, Villa had agreed a deal for Osula, but the move was complicated by UEFA spending rules.

It is stated that Frankfurt will now sign him instead for £30million.

Emery will again be frustrated with how Profit and Sustainability rules continue to haunt the Villans, but he will be pleased with the incomings they have managed to secure.

Aston Villa reject approach for Emi Buendia

Aston Villa have been contemplating whether to sell Buendia this summer.

The winger has struggled for gametime in recent seasons, but has looked good in recent cameos.

According to journalist John Percy on X, Villa have turned down a loan offer from Leeds for Buendia and decided he will stay.

Buendia has scored ten and assisted 15 in 116 games since heading to Villa Park and has just two years remaining on his contract.

Offloading the 28-year-old would have saved Villa £75,000 a week and £3.9million across the whole year, but Emery clearly sees him as a valuable asset.
