‘Bad dream’ – Aston Villa fans astonished at what they’ve heard about Marco Asensio

Aston Villa have been underwhelming to start the new Premier League campaign.

Villa’s lack of transfer activity looks to have directly affected them on the pitch as Unai Emery’s side have picked up one point from their opening two games.

Whilst bringing in Marco Bizot was a necessary piece of business, the signing of Evann Guessand earlier in the summer is the only deal that has the potential to excite the Villa Park faithful.

Villa were underwhelming as they lost to Brentford last weekend, and their supporters are still waiting to celebrate their first goal of the season.

Aston Villa supporters worried as Marco Asensio rumours emerge

Asensio is certainly someone who could provide the creative spark that the Villans have lacked at the start of the new campaign.

The Spaniard impressed during his loan spell last season in B6.

This could be easier said than done, however, with reports from Santi Aouna on X on 31 August claiming that Fenerbache want to sign Asensio, with Jorge Mendes reportedly doing the deal.

Villa supporters have seemingly not taken the news well, with the lack of transfer activity being even more concerning after seeing how they performed in their opening two league fixtures.

“Are we allergic to a good transfer window,” one fan wrote.

Another commented: “this whole window has just been a test to see how much Villa fans can take.”

A third also said: “This window is looking like a huge flop unless Monchi can work last minute magic.”

One fan claimed it was “So far the worst window I remember…” and their frustrations are more than justified after just narrowly missing out on Champions League football last season.

“Will be funny to see what happens if nothing happens. Emery will almost certainly leave and Monchi should be fired,” was the thoughts of another supporter.

Aston Villa must sign Lucas Paqueta if Marco Asensio deal is now unlikely

Villa have backed themselves into a corner this late in the window and cannot afford to be picky when it comes to bringing fresh faces to Villa Park.

Even if it means overpaying for Paqueta, who has been linked with a move to Villa, then the club must do everything they can to secure his signature after what can only be described as a disastrous transfer window for the club.

In Paqueta, Villa would be securing a Premier League-proven player who has started the season relatively brightly when considering West Ham’s struggles so far.

Whilst it would not be every supporter’s first choice, Paqueta could inject some new life into a struggling Villa forward line.
