Aston Villa to benefit as West Ham discuss Lucas Paqueta exit in £50m transfer update
Aston Villa could now take a step closer to signing Lucas Paqueta.
Villa have shown interest in signing Paqueta from West Ham before the 7pm transfer deadline on 1 September at Villa Park.
This has seen Paqueta himself push for a Villa move as Unai Emery shows a keen interest in bringing a new attacking midfielder to B6.
With a deal dragging on for Villa to re-sign Marco Asensio, the Villans have seemingly stepped up their interest in Paqueta.
Monchi and Co. could now seek to benefit from the Irons this summer after Villa tabled an offer to West Ham for Paqueta, which the Hammers will now consider.

This article contains exclusive comments given to Villa News by former manager Martin Allen.
West Ham considering Aston Villa offer for Lucas Paqueta
It has come as a surprise that the Villans are keen to add a player to their squad in the number 10 area of the pitch, given the success of Morgan Rogers in that role.
With that being said, if that is what Emery wants, there aren’t going to be many better options out there than Paqueta, despite a difficult spell at the London Stadium.
Stat (2024/25) | Lucas Paqueta |
Appearances | 36 |
Goals | 5 |

This has seen Villa physicalise their interest, although it had looked as if Graham Potter was staunch in his desire to keep hold of the Brazil international.
Despite this, former Irons midfielder Allen believes the Hammers hierarchy will be milling over a potential £50m exit for the 28-year-old to Villa Park.
Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Allen said: “I think after the difficult years surrounding his charges, I imagine he’s unhappy at West Ham but also relieved.
“I think he wants to play for a team that is going to be successful.
“Maybe, if West Ham could get £50m for him, they could buy two other players, and that is what they need.
“They are desperate for more quality players. One out, in Paqueta, could make way for two in.
“That is bound to be bouncing around their recruitment meetings without a shadow of a doubt.
“That could benefit Villa, even if I’m not sure where he fits in under Emery.“

Aston Villa must push to land Lucas Paqueta
With such little time remaining in the transfer window, Villa have to act on their interest and get close deals over the line as soon as possible.
In what has already been a hugely disappointing window in B6, it will only get worse for the claret and blue faithful if Paqueta doesn’t make the Midlands move.
It appears that the Brazilian is the nearest deal to being completed, so if that falls through, it won’t look great for Monchi and the Villa recruitment team.
As a result, pushing West Ham and hoping they see the benefit of a summer exit could prove to be wise in the last two days of the window.
