Aston Villa ready to gatecrash Man United bid for goalkeeper as Emi Martinez replacement
Aston Villa could be in the market for an Emi Martinez alternative before deadline day.
Villa keeper Martinez has been linked to Manchester United again after months of exit links away from Villa Park for the Argentina international.
To this point, Unai Emery has managed to keep hold of his number one in B6, despite Martinez’s tears on the pitch as Villa beat Tottenham in their final home game of last season.
With that being said, links to Man United have been an ever-present for Martinez this summer, and they don’t look like going anywhere.
This has now seen Villa eye a potential replacement for Martinez with less than two days remaining in the window for Monchi and Co. to conduct business.
Aston Villa interested in Emi Martinez alternative
There is no doubt that the claret and blue outfit were braced for the 32-year-old to depart before the beginning of the current Premier League season.
Regardless of this, the shot stopper has stuck around, and Martinez made his first Villa start of the campaign against Brentford last time out.
It wasn’t the dream return as the Villans fell to defeat, but this could prove to be one of the Argentine’s final games at Villa.
This comes after links to United, but now the Mail on Sunday have reported, 31 August, page 86, that tentative interest has now emerged from Saudi Arabia.
If a big money bid from the Middle East were to come in, the Villans could make a move for Royal Antwerp keeper Senne Lammens after showing interest.
Aston Villa could steal Senne Lammens from Manchester United
It is no secret that Man United are keen on bringing in the ex-Arsenal man after many weeks of links to the Argentine this summer.
Despite this, it did appear at one stage as if a deal for Lammens was going to be activated at Old Trafford instead of the Villa star.
The 23-year-old would represent a risk, but given the current state of the busy goalkeeper market, he could represent a positive pick-up at this stage.

Whether the Belgian goes on to be an Andre Onana replacement or a Martinez alternative is yet to be seen ahead of the window’s closure on 1 September.
