Aston Villa in late talks to seal ‘significant’ transfer with heavy add-ons before deadline
Aston Villa appear to be finally making breakthroughs in the transfer window, with deadline day around the corner.
Unai Emery is still keen on reuniting with Marco Asensio, who could be available for another loan move from Paris Saint-Germain.
Aston Villa are also still hacking away at Nicolas Jackson, with Bayern Munich said to be closing in on the Chelsea striker ahead of them.
This summer, focus hasn’t just been on Villa’s short-term future, as they continue to target untapped talent from across Europe.

Aston Villa in talks to sign Fletcher Boyd from Aberdeen
Aston Villa look set to miss out on young star Jaydee Canvot, with Crystal Palace beating them to the punch for the £20million star.
Profit and Sustainability rules have continued to haunt Emery, but the Villans are now finally making a breakthrough.
According to Scott Burns, Aston Villa are in talks with Aberdeen over a “significant” late move for teenage midfielder Fletcher Boyd.
- Aston Villa already have young Scottish talent like Roy Wilson, Kerr Smith and Aidan Borland in their youth setup
- Boyd has already made three appearances for Aberdeen this season
The 17-year-old will cost Villa more than £1million, with heavy add-ons also expected to be inserted into the sale if a deal can be agreed before Monday’s deadline.
Boyd has played 12 games across the 2024/25 campaign and bagged two goals as he showed plenty of talent, busting onto the scene.
The signing of the youngster may not be as exciting as the big-money transfers that their rivals are completing, but players such as Boyd can be crucial in years to come.

Fletcher Boyd can join a list of Scottish legends at Aston Villa
John McGinn has been a notable figure for Aston Villa in recent seasons.
The Scottish international’s impact has been emphasised by how much Emery has fought to keep McGinn at Aston Villa this summer.
Scottish players who have impressed for Aston Villa:
- John McGinn: McGinn has become a fan favourite since he arrived in 2018
- Alan Hutton: Known as “the Scottish Cafu,” Alan Hutton became a cult hero at Villa, particularly for his role in their promotion season
- Andy Gray: Gray was a prolific striker for Villa in the late 1970s
Boyd can join a list of Scottish players who have made their name at Villa Park, such as Alan Hutton and Andy Gray.
Hutton became a legend in the West Midlands, especially for his solo goal against Birmingham, and Gray spent a total of six years over two spells with Villa.
Could Boyd be next?
