Matty Cash to Nottingham Forest takes fresh twist at Aston Villa as exit talks underway
Matty Cash has been linked with an Aston Villa departure this summer.
Villa right-back cash has piqued the interest of Nottingham Forest, who could bring the Poland international back to the City Ground before the 1 September transfer deadline.
This comes despite the 28-year-old being a regular feature under Unai Emery, although the Villa Park fan base have been left unsure by the right-back at times.
Former scout Bryan King believes this could see Villa move Cash on before the end of the window, something which could still be possible in the coming days.
With that being said, a return to the East Midlands could still be in jeopardy for Cash after the latest development for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.

Matty Cash to fall victim to transfer talks at Nottingham Forest
On the final day of last season, Cash was poor as Villa lost to Manchester United, as Champions League qualification fell away from the B6 club.
Many fans believed that this should have been the end for the defender, but the Pole has stuck around and remains as the starting right-back under Emery.
Stat per 90 (2024/25) | Matty Cash |

With that being said, a last-gasp exit has been mooted as Forest showcased an interest in bringing their academy product back to NG2.
It is unclear whether Villa would allow such a regular starter to leave, especially after over five years of service in claret and blue.
That decision doesn’t look likely to matter any more, with the Reds now in contact with RB Leipzig over the signing of former Villa target Lutsharel Geertruida.
This may prove to be the end of any hopes for Cash to return to his boyhood club, especially if Forest steps up efforts for other signings.
Aston Villa could also make Lutsharel Geertruida swoop
There is no getting away from the fact that the Villans were heavily linked to Geertruida last summer before his move to the Bundesliga.
This left many fans excited due to the need for a versatile defensive addition, which ultimately never came for Emery’s side 12 months ago.
With that in mind, the Spaniard could finally get his hands on Geertruida this summer as a departure from Leipzig looks increasingly likely.
If Villa could offer regular first-team minutes, ahead of Cash, the 25-year-old could snub a move to Forest in favour of the Villa Park outfit.
This would certainly represent bad news for the current right-back options in B6, but would mark positive progression in a backline in desperate need of evolution.
