Aston Villa quoted astronomical loan fee to sign Chelsea star Nicolas Jackson

Aston Villa will need to empty their coffers to sign Nicolas Jackson from Chelsea.

Villa are keen on signing Jackson to strengthen their squad this summer.

The Villans’ start to the Premier League season has made it clear that reinforcements are a must. Villa’s draw to Newcastle at Villa Park with 10 men gave weight to the argument that Unai Emery could make do with his current squad.

But the cracks began to show in Villa’s 1-0 defeat to Brentford, who lost Thomas Frank to Tottenham this summer.

As a result, Villa want more signings and Jackson could be on track to arriving at Villa Park before 1 September.

Chelsea want £10m loan fee for Nicolas Jackson

Villa have been eyeing up a deal for Jackson, but he is not expected to come at a cheap price.

The striker has been ostracised at the Blues with Liam Delap and Joao Pedro arriving in the summer.

A player with six years left on his contract was never going to arrive for an affordable fee. But in recent days, conversations of a permanent deal have shifted into a loan with an obligation.

According to Ben Jacobs via X on Wednesday, 27 August, Chelsea are prepared to sanction a loan with an obligation for Jackson if a permanent transfer cannot be agreed.

Interested parties have been told that a £10million loan fee is required. However, Bayern Munich remain in talks for Jackson which could hamper Villa’s hopes of securing his transfer.

Is Christopher Nkunku a good alternative to Nicolas Jackson?

Villa have turned their attention to Christopher Nkunku, with Bayern entering the picture for Jackson.

The Frenchman is considered a skilled attacking player, but has had injuries dictate most of his career.

When comparing both players in the 2024/25 season, Nkunku is a better and more efficient chance creator. Whereas Jackson is the better goalscorer.

Meanwhile, Nkunku has missed 54 games for Chelsea, but Jackson has been unavailable for just nine. As a result, the latter does seem like the better pick for Villa.

But with Bayern breathing down their neck, a move for Nkunku could suffice if he remains fit.
