How much Lucas Paqueta could cost as Aston Villa want West Ham transfer agreement

Aston Villa could potentially splash the cash on West Ham United playmaker Lucas Paqueta this transfer window.

Unai Emery hasn’t had the best of times at Villa Park this summer, with the Lions struggling to strengthen their squad and selling the likes of Jacob Ramsey to possibly balance the books.

However, NSWE would certainly be making a statement by signing Paqueta, with the Brazil international on the Villans’ radar.

The 27-year-old certainly won’t come cheap, and the B6 club could potentially have to make a significant investment to sign him.

Aston Villa look at mammoth £91.2m investment for Lucas Paqueta transfer

Paqueta is attracting interest from Villa before Deadline Day, according to the Daily Mail.

The news outlet reported in its print edition on 25 August (page 59) that the Brazilian midfielder is on Villas’ radar, but it remains to be seen how much money they will need to spend at Villa Park for him.

GiveMeSport revealed on 24 August that the Hammers are open to last-minute offers for the playmaker and are looking to get at least £60million for him.

As per Capology, Paqueta currently earns £150,000 gross per week, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see him earn a similar amount at the Villans, which may translate to £31.2m on a four-year contract, potentially taking the B6 club’s investment in the attacking-midfielder to £91.2m.

Lucas Paqueta could be Morgan Rogers replacement at Villa Park

Tottenham have made Morgan Rogers one of their priority targets this summer, with the North Londoners expecting to pay around £80m for him.

The England international has been a key player for Emery in recent seasons, but they may not be able to turn down a lucrative offer for him.

It would make sense for the Villans to invest some of the money procured from the 23-year-old’s possible exit in a quality replacement.

Villa fans haven’t been pleased with Rogers’ recent displays, and now feels like the right time to cash in on the 2024/25 PFA Young Player of the Year.

Paqueta seems to be back to his best after being cleared of his spot-fixing allegations recently, but it remains to be seen whether Aston Villa can sign him.

Emery can offer the Brazilian national, who’s in the prime ages of his career, European football this season and a chance to challenge for a top four spot in the Premier League, something West Ham appear to be far off as they sit bottom of the table.
