Aston Villa target Adrien Rabiot has already said what he finds ‘really good’ about Unai Emery

Unai Emery has endured a challenging transfer window yet again, but that could finally be about to change at Aston Villa.

Marco Bizot is the only Villa signing to start a game this season, and he was filling in for the absent Emi Martinez, who was suspended.

However, the Villans are interested in Adrien Rabiot, with the French international transfer listed by the Ligue 1 outfit.

Indeed, if the move was to go through, then Emery and the midfielder would be reunited after the Spaniard’s spell as PSG boss.

Aston Villa make approach for Adrien Rabiot

Rabiot was linked with a move to Villa Park last summer after the West Midlands club parted ways with Douglas Luiz.

Now, that move could come to fruition after the unsavoury events that have led to his impending departure from Marseille.

The 30-year-old was involved in a bust-up with teammate Jonathan Rowe, with both players allowed to leave this summer.

Aston Villa have now made an approach to sign Rabiot, although several other clubs are interested in his services.

Emery has already lost Jacob Ramsey to Newcastle this window and needs to strengthen in midfield.

What Adrien Rabiot said about Unai Emery

Rabiot and Emery crossed paths for two whole seasons at European champions Paris Saint-Germain between 2016 and 2018.

Indeed, the pair enjoyed substantial success together, picking up an array of domestic trophies in Paris.

During his PSG days, the midfielder spoke positively about working under the current Villa manager.

“He asks if you are not too tired after training,” Rabiot said via The Mirror, when discussing what Emery is like.

“This is really important for the staff to know, as they can then adapt [the training sessions]. They need to know if we can withstand the workload being asked of us.

“Communication is essential, not only in football but in all sports. This is what I find really good about Emery.”

Given what has happened to Rabiot at Marseille, working with a manager he likes could be a pivotal factor in deciding his future.

While there are offers on the table, a reunion with the Spaniard makes sense and would also play European football.

Yes, Villa fans would be right to question his attitude, but it sounds as if he knows what would be expected of him under Emery.

With time ticking, the Villans will be hellbent on securing a couple of deals at least before 1 September.
