Axel Disasi open to Aston Villa return as image emerges from inside Chelsea dressing room

Axel Disasi could still make a return to Aston Villa this summer.

Disasi, 27, signed for Villa from Chelsea last winter and went on to make just 10 appearances under Unai Emery in claret and blue.

This saw the France international become a utility player at Villa Park, but after struggling against PSG in the Champions League, he made just one further appearance for the Villans.

That isn’t to say it was a poor loan spell, with Disasi proving his worth on multiple occasions when called upon as a centre-back.

With that in mind, the Chelsea man could be open to a B6 return this summer, especially after the latest update from Cobham Training Ground.

Axel Disasi shares insight from Chelsea bomb squad

After Aston Villa lost to Brentford on Saturday (23 August), there is no getting away from the need for squad reinforcements in the Midlands.

This has most recently seen Villa links for Nicolas Jackson and even Christopher Nkunku at Chelsea, with less than 10 days remaining in the window.

As useful as both as these signings could prove to be, there is likely to be stern competition for their signatures in the coming days.

It could prove to be Disasi instead, who makes the switch to Villa Park from Stamford Bridge before the transfer season comes to an end on 1 September.

This comes after the Frenchman shared an image on Instagram (23 August), showing the inside of the bomb squad dressing room at Chelsea.

The seemingly temporary changing facility doesn’t look fit for Premier League players, with the post potentially acting as a ‘come and get me plea’ from the defender to any interested parties.

This could open the doors for a second spell wearing claret and blue as useful depth for the rest of the campaign in B6.

Axel Disasi could replace Pau Torres at Aston Villa

There is no getting away from the fact that Torres was terrible against Brentford, as he looked lethargic and weak out of possession.

This is where Dango Outtarra’s winner came from and ultimately let the Villans down in the key moment of the match at the Gtech Community Stadium.

As a result, bringing in another centre-back option in Disasi could prove to be wise, especially if a cheap deal is on the cards in the capital.

The Frenchman has plenty of Premier League experience and obviously has prior links to Villa with last season’s loan switch.

This could see the 27-year-old represent a smart piece of business, but only if at least another forward is to join him through the doors at Bodymoor Heath.
