How much Aston Villa could make from Morgan Rogers transfer as Tottenham bombshell drops

Aston Villa midfielder Morgan Rogers could be on his way to Tottenham in the final weeks of the transfer window.

The 23-year-old has been a key player for the Villans in recent seasons, but they may be about to lose another one of their stars after Jacob Ramsey’s exit to Newcastle United.

Rogers was crowned the PFA Young Player of the Year recently, and his departure will definitely leave a gaping hole in the Villans’ starting lineup.

Some of the Villa Park faithful weren’t happy with Unai Emery for continuing to rely on the playmaker despite his recent dip in form, and the youngster’s exit may be seen as a welcome boost by some due to the potential figures involved.

Aston Villa to make at least £80m from Morgan Rogers sale to Tottenham

Tottenham have made Rogers their priority target this summer, according to The Independent.

The news outlet reported on 21 August that Spurs have already contacted intermediaries regarding the England international’s possible move from Villa Park.

It’s been claimed that the North London outfit expect to pay £80million for the playmaker, but they may have to pay more to make the Villans consider a deal.

With the revelation of the B6 club’s wage bill being over 90 per cent of their revenue, leading to a UEFA fine, NSWE have some big decisions to make.

Villa are working on re-signing Marco Asensio from Paris Saint-Germain after his impressive loan spell in Birmingham.

Nicolas Jackson is also being eyed at Villa Park after Evann Guessand’s arrival from OGC Nice, but it remains to be seen whether the Lions can afford him.

The summer transfer window arguably hasn’t gone to plan for Emery, with the B6 club failing to replace the likes of Marcus Rashford and Axel Disasi, who joined them on loan midway through last season.

Rogers’ exit from Villa could open up considerable funds for them to spend before the end of August.

The attacking midfielder’s current contract at Villa Park runs until 2030, with a weekly salary of £75,000, as per Capology.

As a result, the Villans could also get the Englishman’s remaining £19.5m wage off their books, but it remains to be seen whether Tottenham will be able to entice him away from B6.
