Aston Villa door open for Nicolas Jackson transfer – but it comes at massive cost

Aston Villa are reportedly eyeing up Chelsea forward Nicolas Jackson, but a big sacrifice may have to be made to complete any deal.

Jackson previously worked with Unai Emery at Villarreal, breaking into the first team under his tutelage, before moving to Chelsea in the summer of 2023.

It now appears that the striker’s time at Chelsea is coming to an end, and Aston Villa could look to give him a fresh start, but a deal could be tricky, with Jackson valued at over £50 million.

There is a way that Villa can raise the funds required to sign Jackson, but it would mean sacrificing one of their best players to a Premier League rival.

Tottenham eye up Morgan Rogers

Morgan Rogers was outstanding for Villa last season, and was a key player as he made 54 appearances across all competitions.

However, speaking on YouTube, Fabrizio Romano revealed that Tottenham are eyeing up Rogers in the final week of this transfer window, but that a deal is unlikely as things stand.

“I can tell you that one of the dream targets they have at Tottenham internally is Morgan Rogers at Aston Villa. But it’s seen as a very difficult deal because Villa don’t want to lose the player,” he stated.

“So people in the industry believe that this deal is almost impossible for Morgan Rogers, but I can guarantee you that Tottenham are thinking internally about him as a perfect candidate.”

With this new development, Villa have a decision to make if a huge offer comes in for Rogers, as it could enable them to sign Jackson.

Aston Villa may have to sell Morgan Rogers to sign Nicolas Jackson

If Villa want to sign Jackson, then they may need to part ways with Rogers if Tottenham offer a huge fee, but it is questionable if this is worth it.

Rogers is one of the best talents of his age group, and was a vital part of Emery’s team last season, and he will not want to lose his star player.

If Ollie Watkins remains at Villa, then a new striker will not be too much of a priority, and Jackson will not be a necessity, but if the striker leaves then this could change.

While Jackson would bring some of the qualities that Rogers does in terms of running power and speed, he is not as clinical when it comes to output in front of goal, and it would be a big risk to lose such an important player even if Jackson arrives.
