Emi Martinez ‘struggling’ at Aston Villa after what happened v Newcastle
Emi Martinez may not be guaranteed his spot at Aston Villa after the latest scenes from Villa Park.
The goalkeeper was absent from the starting 11 against Newcastle United on Saturday due to the red card he picked up on the final day of last season at Old Trafford.
Martinez has been linked with a move to Manchester United; however, a move away from the West Midlands is yet to come to fruition.
Now, it appears that the World Cup winner will struggle at Villa Park after the latest Premier League developments.

Marco Bizot wows as Aston Villa face Newcastle United
Unai Emery is happy for Martinez to stay at Aston Villa despite the speculation around his future at Villa Park.
Martinez patted the Villa badge against Roma in pre-season, further strengthening the chance of him remaining at the West Midlands outfit.
However, even if he remains with the Villans, he might not have a guaranteed starting place under Emery.
That is because Marco Bizot has emphatically started his Villa career with a superb first-half display against Newcastle.
- Martinez has been linked with a Villa Park exit
- As it stands, he seems to be staying
- Bizot has been emphatic on debut
Bizot denied Anthony Elanga, who was through one-on-one, while also pulling off some impressive saves.
Indeed, the goalkeeper’s performance caught the attention of the talkSPORT studio on 16 August.
“He looks pretty comfortable, this goalkeeper, doesn’t he, by the way? Martinez might be struggling here, right?” said Simon Ellard.

Villa are in safe hands with Bizot after fine start
Although it is only the first game of the season, it seems that the Villans are in safe hands with Bizot.
Stepping into Martinez’s shoes is no easy task, considering his performances over the years and the love from the Villa faithful.
However, the shot-stopper has shown nerves of steel so far and can clearly be called upon when needed by Emery.
With Emery’s side fighting on all fronts this season, Aston Villa appear to have two quality options between the sticks.
