Aston Villa in trouble as Pau Torres shortlisted for mega-money transfer

Aston Villa could be handed another blow this summer now that Pau Torres could have one foot out the door.

The Villans have seen more outgoings than incomings this summer, and that does not seem to be changing anytime soon.

Ollie Watkins has been the most popular name linked with an exit as of late. The striker has become a prime target for Manchester United, who have also been linked with a move for Emiliano Martinez.

Villa have been focused on retaining these key players, and it looks like they could now face a fight on their hands to keep hold of Torres, too.

Torres shortlisted by Al-Nassr

The Saudi Pro League train has been travelling at the speed of light and has seen several players book a seat on board.

Cristiano Ronaldo got the ball rolling when he signed for Al-Nassr from Manchester United in 2023. Since then, the league has seen several huge stars arrive, such as Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kante.

Torres was signed from Villarreal back in 2023 and has proved to be an important signing for Villa despite several injury problems. However, the Spanish international could become the latest in the long line of players to share the pitch with Ronaldo.

As reported by Santi Aouna via X on Thursday (31 July), Torres is on Al-Nassr’s shortlist. This comes as talks continue between Bayern Munich defender Kim Min-jae’s agents and the Saudi outfit.

Kim is keen on the move, but no deal has been agreed as of yet. As a result, Al-Nassr could move for Torres instead. This could spell trouble for Villa, who have already let several players leave without finding suitable replacements.

Losing Torres would be a blow for Unai Emery, and Villa could be in trouble as Al-Nassr may be able to use the riches at their disposal to make an enticing offer to the defender.

Villa need to become more active in the market

More movement in the market is needed if Emery is to lead Villa to a top-five finish in the Premier League next season.

There is no doubt that the Villans have a strong squad which can compete at the top level. However, their chances will be boosted with some more summer signings.

With more news of departures than arrivals, the club will need to get busy before the new season begins.
