‘Monchi plays transfer blinder’ as Aston Villa set to complete new deal

Monchi appears to have played another blinder in the transfer market at Aston Villa.

The Spanish chief is in charge of all of the Villans’ dealings in the market, but has delivered mixed results across his time in B6 so far.

Monchi has been tipped to depart Villa this summer, as his long-standing relationship with Unai Emery could be about to be severed, but he still holds plenty of value to the second city outfit.

The 56-year-old is a key figure behind the scenes at Villa Park, and he looks as though he might have worked his magic once again, with the club set to conclude a new transfer deal imminently.

Louie Barry is set to join Sheffield United on loan

Louie Barry’s future has been one of the main talking points at Villa this summer, as the starlet seems destined to leave once again.

Loan spells have been the order of the day for the youngster’s career so far; however, there has been a suggestion recently that he could be about to depart permanently, with the recent progression of Emery’s side adding another obstacle to his pathway to the first team.

The 22-year-old is one of the most highly-rated young talents in the Villans’ ranks, but he is now at the stage where playing regular first-team football is the only way he will continue to develop.

He has featured in both of his side’s pre-season friendlies so far, but is now set to join Sheffield United on a season-long loan deal, according to the Express and Star (21 July).

The Blades have been in talks with Barry and his parent club over the course of the last week, and it now appears that an agreement is all but confirmed.

Sheffield United will be an excellent move for Barry

Barry had previously been set to rejoin Hull City, but the deal fell through as the Tigers were hit with a transfer embargo by the Football League.

However, Villa will now surely be delighted with the way that situation played out, as there are arguably few better places for Barry to go right now than Bramall Lane.

The youngster will get to link up with Ruben Selles once again, after the Spanish boss made the switch from Hull to the South Yorkshire outfit, and he will also be playing in a side who will likely be consistently churning out wins and competing at the top end of the Championship.

Barry’s stats at each level of the EFL.

The forward has now played at all three levels of the EFL, but a stint with Sheffield United could prove to be the perfect way to bridge the final gap between Barry and competitive first-team minutes at Villa.

Monchi may have just struck the perfect deal for the Villans as far as Barry is concerned.

They surely would have preferred a loan exit to a permanent sale if at all possible, and their transfer chief appears to have now found a way of helping Barry to make the step up to the next level.
