Aston Villa’s pre-season has not gone to plan so far.
After a solid campaign last time out under Unai Emery, Villa supporters were hopeful that their side would kick on in more ways than one this summer, though it has been far from the case.
The Villans have made very little progress in the summer transfer window and have failed to impress with back-to-back defeats against Walsall and Hansa Rostock.
Aston Villa fell to a 3-1 defeat against the latter, despite taking the lead, and an incident in the equalising goal has seen supporters rage at one of their youth players.

The Villans were cruising for the first hour of the game, but a horrendous moment of complacency ultimately led to their downfall.
TJ Carroll received the ball inside his own area, and deliberated over his next move for far too long, allowing the opposition to steal the ball and equalise.
The error was that bad, it led to one fan claiming the travelling support should be refunded, while countless others piled in on the youngster.

Pre-season is all about fitness, and integrating your new players, of which Villa have very few, but the lack of quality on display will be of concern to Emery.

If anything, this serves as a showcase that there is a remarkable amount of work left to do this summer, though with the new campaign underway in less than a month, time is running out for them to achieve what they will set out to do.
