Aston Villa ready to sell Jacob Ramsey for £42.5m in ‘pure profit deal’
Jacob Ramsey could leave Villa Park this summer with several clubs reportedly interested.
The midfielder burst onto the scene in the 2020/21 season and has been a regular for the Villans in the years since.
But last season Ramsey often found himself resigned to the bench in the wake of Morgan Rodgers, who has emerged among Unai Emery’s most-favoured options.
That has seen the door opened on a possible exit for the 24-year-old this summer.

Ramsey price tag revealed
Injuries have hampered Ramsey in the last couple of years, but the Englishman’s talent was evident in the 2022/23 season.
Scoring six goals and providing seven assists in the league, the midfielder thrived in several positions over the course of the season.
A speedy dribbler, always eager to make an impact, Ramsey scored goals against Liverpool, Manchester United and Newcastle as Villa climbed to a seventh-place finish.
But Emery found less use for the 24-year-old last season, often deploying him off the bench as an impact substitute.

And given Villa’s struggle against the Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) amid their failure to achieve Champions League football for next season, Ramsey could be sold to raise funds.
Coming through the academy, a sale of the midfielder would represent a pure profit deal for Villa – easing any PSR worries for the summer.
Everton are one team who have reportedly shown interest in a move for Ramsey, who, according to The Athletic (July 18), would herald a price tag similar to that of Douglas Luiz, who left Villa Park last summer.
Luiz was sold to Serie A giants Juventus in a deal worth around £42.5million.
Villa will struggle to attract such a sizable fee
Villa are within their rights to ask for a handsome fee for Ramsey, given the precedent set by the transfers of similar players.
There is a so-called ‘English tax’ which has seen English Premier League players move for a fee, perhaps, beyond their services.
One example can be drawn from an ongoing transfer story – that of Noni Madueke’s move to Arsenal. Despite an average season from the Englishman, the Gunners are set to pay £52m.
But Villa should be aware that the teams currently registering their interest in Ramsey are unlikely to be able to muster up such a bid.
